The Dodge in Dodge's
Sundodgers is Al Dodge, a founding member of the string
band R. Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders
and a close, personal friend of thelegendarycartoonistRCrumb, who may not even
sue us for using his drawing here. In the Sundodgers, Al mostly plays National
Steel Guitar and mandolin, and sings.
That cool Gibson
Super Four whathaveyou is owned and played by Fred Dortort.
Like Al, Fred knows A LOT about old music. He also knows a lot about plants.
Glen
Jordan provides The Dodger's with both bass and ukulele strummings, and
with the Magical cry of the Musical Saw. Glen is also a professional luthier,
and a great comfort around broken strings.
Zac
Salem is a scholar, collector and performer specializing in Traditional
Mexican Song. In the Sundodgers he plays guitar and mandolin and sings in at
least three languages!
Kathy
Sparling doesn't really know as much about old records, stringed instruments,
pre-code movies or plants as she should to be a part of this band. She is sort
of naturally old fashioned-seeming though, so it works out okay. In the Dodgers
she sings and plays ukulele.
